MOTHER'S DAY TREAT

Dorie Bolze (HRWA's Executive Director) with her daughter Elena and friend Nora May

HRWA’s first annual Mother’s Day Float
was a huge success.

May 13, 2007

96 people chose to honor their moms with this special outing. One canoe boasted three generations as it was captained by a grandmother, her daughter, and her three grandaughters!!

Everyone met at Burns Park in Kingston Springs to enjoy a delicious lunch catered by MacK and Kate’s restaurant before launching on to the Harpeth in canoes supplied by Foggy Bottom Canoe Rentals.

The day was perfect – bright sunshine and clear skies overhead as we paddled a beautiful stretch of river and enjoyed spotting sunbathing turtles, flycatchers, kingfishers, and Canadian geese. The rest stop at a gravel bar gave kids of all ages the chance to float in the river and try their hand at skipping stones.

If you missed out on the Mother’s Day fun (or if you just want to have some more fun), please be sure to register now for the Father’s Day Float scheduled for Sunday, June 17, 2007!!
