The TN Dep't of Environment and Conservation, City of Franklin, and HRWA announced earlier today the issuance of a new state permit on Franklin's withdrawal of water from the Harpeth. HRWA is pleased that there are changes based on our recommendations that include a new limit tied to water quality conditions, and finally working out a more accurate measuring system for the river's flow upstream of Franklin's pumps that we hope will be installed by this summer. Also, HRWA is pleased that TDEC is funding continued scientific work in establishing river low flow thresholds so that this permit can be re-evaluated soon.
