Gallery One, a Nashville based contemporary art gallery located at 5133 Harding Pike, is pleased to announce an exciting all media art exhibition based on the theme - A River. Gallery One is hosting the benefit art show to lend support to the Harpeth River Watershed Association (HRWA), a non-profit organization devoted to the protection and stewardship of the Harpeth River that transcends five counties. For more information about Gallery One, click here. The juried art show opens with a public reception on Thursday, December 3rd from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and will continue through Saturday, January 16th. This unique exhibition will feature a wide variety of original representational and interpretative art developed by artists represented by the gallery, including Rebecca Ruegger, Henry Isaacs, Patrick Adams, Deborah Fritts, and Lendon Noe, as well as new works by several artists new to the gallery. Winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced after the show concludes. All of the work on display at the benefit is being developed in financial support of the HRWA, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the HRWA. The call to artists expressly identified an excerpt from the novel, A River Runs Through It, and other stories, by Norman Maclean, as a source of inspiration for submitted works: “Eventually all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.” |
